"There are not enough races": Rishabh Pant attacks batsmen after loss against GT in IPL 2026 clash

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler made the chase smooth like walking in a garden. Without doing anything fancy, these two batsmen simplify the pursuit of the run by following a very simple method: see the ball and hit it.

At the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had a tough day with their batsmen. Batting first, the home team scored only 164 runs in return for 8 wickets. Apart from one of their openers, Aiden Markram, who scored 30, there were no other batsmen in the team who had scored at least 20 runs today, against the Gujarat Titans bowling line-up.

LSG’s rising star also failed against Gujarat Titans

Mukul Choudhary, who single-handedly confirmed a win against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, was also unable to do anything significant.

Prasidh Krishna was the best bowler for the Gujarat Titans who claimed 4 wickets in 4 overs at an economy rate of 7.00. Mohammed Siraj also performed well, taking one wicket in four overs for an economy rate of 4.75.

After Sai Sudharsan’s first wicket, the LSG players were given a very limited number of opportunities to celebrate in the second innings of the match as Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler slowly but dominantly took the momentum of the match. Gill returned for 56 runs off 40 balls, smashing one 6 and six 4s.

Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler settled the match for GT

While the captain batted attentively, Buttler was a little more aggressive. The England international scored 60 runs off 37 balls with eleven triples and a strike rate of 162.17. It was Butler’s 100th half-century in T20s. This one only has 29 balls. According to Cricbuzz, 80% of Buttler’s runs came offside, the fifth highest score of the 1982 50+ in IPL.

After the departures of Gill and Buttler, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia sealed the match for the Gujarat Titans. GT needed just 18.4 overs to win the match by 7 wickets against Lucknow Super Giants.

We just couldn’t take enough chances: LSG captain Rishabh Pant

“Look, there are definitely not enough runs. There is nothing, because of the fact that they bowled well. I think on a wicket like this, a score like 170-180 is a really good score. But, you know, the wicket kept falling and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going,” Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant said after the match.

“Look, definitely on a pitch like this, like I said, 170-180 is a good score. But at the same time, you still have opportunities. I wouldn’t say I’m a tough guy. So there were opportunities in the game. We just couldn’t take advantage of them enough,” he added.
