In TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match number 39 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). RCB won the game by 9 wickets, courtesy of RCB’s sensational bowling display. Virat Kohli created a milestone in the match while chasing a target of just 75 runs in the second innings.

Virat Kohli became the first batsman to score 9,000 IPL runs in the history of the game. He achieved the record on the final ball of the powerplay when he took a single off the final ball against Mukesh Kumar. Kohli needed just 11 runs to achieve the phenomenal milestone of the night.

Virat Kohli achieves another milestone

Virat Kohli has been in sensational form in IPL 2026. He has scored runs in all the matches for the franchise, and his 9,000 runs in the tournament are due to a single franchise as he has played all 19 seasons for RCB since the beginning of 2008.

Virat Kohli remains the IPL’s leading run-scorer with 9012*, and is also in contention for the Orange Cap, fourth in the list with 351* runs in the tournament in 8 innings, at an average of 58.50 and a brilliant strike rate of 162.50. Kohli that night remained unbeaten with a score of 23 runs off 15 balls.
