Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir spoke about the three best moments of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Among his favorite moments, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s six consecutive wins was one.
Under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders won their third league title. The former captain of the franchise was one of the main factors behind the team winning the tournament and in an overly dominant manner.
Gautam Gambhir was secured ahead of IPL 2024 and the move paid off incredibly well and the team won the tournament. The KKR mentor instilled a brave attitude in the players and made them express themselves, which resulted in great things. They won 9 games in the league stage and then won unilaterally in the playoffs.
However, apart from leading Kolkata Knight Riders to victory, Gautam Gambhir also had other favorite moments in the tournament. Apart from RCB’s comeback, he named Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma’s partnership and Mayank Yadav’s spell as the top three moments. Speaking to Sportskeeda, he explained:
“Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma’s opening partnership, Mayank Yadav’s spell and RCB’s comeback from six consecutive wins”.
For the unversed, the opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma was the most destructive pair in the IPL. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opening batsmen created havoc among the bowlers with their sensational partnership in the league.
Mayank Yadav, on the other hand, in the two games against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru troubled the batsmen with his pace. He consistently reached 155 kmph and caught the attention of many. He picked three wickets in both games and changed the tone of the game. As per his spell, Lucknow Super Giants won the game from a losing position.
On the other hand, RCB only managed one win in their 8 matches. They were teetering at the end of the table. However, after that, they won 6 games in a row and claimed the playoff spot before losing in Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals.

Gautam Gambhir also opened up about his relationship with Virat Kohli. He said the relationship between them is not for the country to know. He elaborated:
“The perception is very far from reality. My relationship with Virat Kohli is something this country does not need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relationship is not about giving masala to the public. “
Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have in the past had some heated exchanges on the field. However, the duo hugged each other in IPL 2024 during a strategic timeout in a match between RCB and KKR. This settled many rumors about their relationship with each other.
