18-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi on Wednesday (April 3) announced his arrival in the Indian Premier League in style by scoring a blistering half-century.

The youngster made his debut in the 16th game of the ongoing IPL 2024 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in Vishakhapatnam. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt added 60 runs for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed by Anrich Nortje.

After such a strong start, Venkatesh Iyer was expected to bat at number three. However, the KKR team management sent Angkrish Raghuvanshi and it didn’t take long for the youngster to justify the team’s call-up to him. He opened his IPL account by hitting Nortje with two brilliant fours and didn’t look back.

With Sunil Narine doing his best at one end, the youngster also put in a brilliant effort to keep the scoreboard moving at a surprising pace. In the 13th innings, he completed a brilliant fifty off just 25 balls. He scored four more runs before being dismissed by Nortje.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s 54-run knock came off just 27 balls and was studded with five fours and three sixes. During the innings, the highly rated batsman proved that he is more than capable of playing not only the orthodox but also the unorthodox shots. He brilliantly hit a Rasikh Salam delivery for a six after changing his stance.
