It didn’t take long for Matthew Wade to make an impact in the current season of the Indian Premier League. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman did not get any chance in the Gujarat Titans’ playing XI for the first five games of the season before being included in the squad for the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium.

With GT losing their last two games, they made a couple of changes to the eleven for the current game. While Matthew Wade replaced Kane Williamson in the team, BR Sharath made way for Abhinav Manohar. And Matthew Wade needed less than five overs to make his presence felt in the game.

The Australian star took a stunning catch to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal in the fifth over. Jaiswal hit Umesh Yadav for a four on the first ball of the over before being dismissed on the second. It was a long ball and Jaiswal crawled before kneeling to flick the ball over the goalkeeper’s head.

While he couldn’t make a good connection with the ball, it was still decent. At first, it looked like the ball would easily go over Matthew Wade’s head. However, GT’s goalkeeper made a timely leap and caught the ball with both hands while he was in the air.

Watch Matthew Wade’s capture:

Jaiswal departed after scoring 24 runs off 19 balls with the help of five overs. The latest outing has further extended Jaiswal’s poor run in the ongoing IPL 2024. After scoring a staggering 712 runs in the five-match Test series against England, Jaiswal opened his IPL campaign with a 24-run knock against Lucknow Super Giants.

It was followed by hits of 5, 10 and 0 before his latest failure to score a big goal. Talking about the game, RR was at 43 for 2 at the end of the powerplay at the time of writing this report.
