Former Indian batsman Saba Karim has taken a powerful jibe at former Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar. Karim and Akhtar are part of the commentary panel for ILT20 2024. Before the match between Desert Vipers and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, both players were part of the live broadcast, in which Akhtar was one of the cricket experts along with Nikhil Chopra , while Karim was presenting the field report.

Presenting the pitch report, Saba Karim mentioned that the spinners may get a little help from the pitch while the fast bowlers might struggle on the surface. However, Karim used a brilliant reference to explain this fact and stated that if Shoaib Akhtar bowls on this pitch, he will lose the hairs left on his head. Akhtar had a crude smile on his face as Karim roasted him.

Saba Karim said: “There is some help for the spinners here, but if Shoaib Akhtar has to bowl here, it will be a problem for him. Any hair left on his head will also fall out while he bowls on this wicket.”

After hearing such strong comments from Saba Karim, Shoaib Akhtar responded that he had threatened many big names during his playing days with his pace. Akhtar further stated that pace comes from the body rather than the field and attitude comes from the mind rather than the ball.

Replying to Saba Karim, Shoaib Akhtar said: “I have scared the biggest batsmen in the world. What is this friend, what’s wrong with you Saba, what happened to you? You’re supposed to be my friend. Having said that, tell me this, no matter what the wicket is, the pace is here (pointing towards the body) not on the wicket, the attitude (pointing towards the mind) is here, not on the ball.”

Coming back to the ILT20 match between Desert Vipers and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, the Vipers posted a score of 164/8 while batting first in Dubai. Adam Hose was the top run-scorer of the Vipers innings and scored 45 runs off 30 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. Apart from Hose, no other batsman could show much impact and he got out after scoring 10 to 20 runs.

Ali Khan was the pick of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders bowlers and finished the innings with three wickets. Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets, while David Willey, Imad Wasim and Josh Little finished with 1 wicket each.

Chasing the target, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have already lost 3 wickets for 91 runs and are trying to rebuild their innings and will try to get over the line. Alishan Sharafu and Sam Hain were dismissed for 1 run each, while Michael Pepper scored 36 runs off 25 balls.

Andries Gous has already turned half a century and is leading the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders’ chase. The Knight Riders still have Andre Russell, who can be dangerous for the Desert Vipers and can help his team win the game.
