Nitish Reddy might find himself in the line of fire of fans after making a controversial statement about the legendary MS Dhoni. The youngster has become a household name thanks to his exploits in the just-concluded 17th season of the Indian Premier League.

The 21-year-old impressed everyone with his talent and temperament as he played several brilliant strokes with the bat under pressure. Many already support him to become India’s main all-rounder in the future. Nitish Reddy stole the show after scoring 64 runs off just 37 balls against Punjab Kings in just his second IPL innings.

Overall, he scored an impressive 303 runs in 11 innings at an average of 33.66 and a strike rate of 142.92 in his first IPL season. Nitish Reddy also picked up three wickets. He is also an outstanding gardener. And while Nitish Reddy is receiving praise from all quarters, he could soon face heavy criticism for saying that MS Dhoni lacks batting technique.

While Reddy may not have intended to disrespect the former Indian captain, his comment could leave many disappointed. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the young all-rounder said that while Dhoni has talent, he lacks technique.

“Dhoni is talented, in the sense that… the talent is there but the technique is not. Dhoni does not have Virat Kohli’s range of techniques.” Reddy said while promoting a Bhaje Vaayu Vegham film.

“MS Dhoni’s batting techniques are not at par with Virat Kohli’s, but he is a legend because he knows his strengths and his game. That’s why he became a champion.” he said in another video.

Meanwhile, Reddy recently spoke about his preparations for IPL 2024. The youngster stated that he had not set any goals and said:

“To be honest, I personally don’t have any personal goal like scoring this many runs or maintaining this strike rate and all that. I used to think that I might get a chance in the finishing role. So I practiced for that in net sessions and also out of season.

“I also practiced my downswing and power hits, whatever. So that’s what I did during my preparations. I never looked for personal goals of scoring as many runs or as many, I just wanted to prepare according to the role the team gave me. needs”. he added while speaking to India TV.
