Rishabh Pant destroys Venkatesh Iyer

Rishabh Pant, on Wednesday (April 3), scored his second consecutive fifty in the ongoing IPL 2024 during the match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in Vishakhapatnam.

DC’s chances of winning the game seemed almost exhausted after KKR finished their innings with a mammoth total of 272/7 in 20 overs. In response, the Rishabh Pant-led team got off to a disastrous start with the bat. They lost four wickets in the powerplay to find themselves reeling at 33 for 4 in the fifth over.

Vaibhav Arora sacked Prithvi Shaw and Abishek Porel, while Mitchell Starc sent back David Warner and Mitchell Marsh to seal DC’s fate. At the time, it looked like DC would be eliminated for a paltry total. However, their captain Rishabh Pant scored a fifty to help them achieve a respectable total.

The keeper-batsman hit the ground running from the start as he raced to 20 runs in just six balls. He slowed down a bit before hitting Venkatesh Iyer for 28 runs in the 12th innings. He hit the KKR all-rounder with two sixes and four fours in the over and also completed his fifty off just 23 balls in the same over.

After scoring 28 runs in the 12th over, Rishabh Pant was dismissed in the next over by Varun Chakravarthy. He departed after scoring 55 runs off 25 balls. It is his second consecutive fifty in the ongoing IPL. After scoring 18 and 28 in the first two games, he scored 51 to win the match against Chennai Super Kings last week.

Speaking of the game, DC was 166 for 9 at the time of writing this report. Early in the game, blistering knocks from Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi propelled KKR to a mammoth 272/7. While Narine scored 85 off just 39 balls, Raghuvanshi scored 54 off 27 balls. Andre Russell (41 off 19) and Rinku Singh (26 off 8) helped KKR end the innings on a strong note.
