MS Dhoni gave a glimpse of his old avatar during the MI vs CSK clash on Sunday, April 14 by hitting a hat-trick of sixes off Hardik Pandya. After watching MS Dhoni’s batting, Rohit Sharma reacted with a witty smile on the field.

MS Dhoni made a spectacular cameo for the men in yellow. He smashed 20 runs in 4 deliveries in the final over, taking the score from 186 to 206. His 20 runs made the difference as CSK then crushed Mumbai Indians by 20 runs.

Chennai Super Kings edged out Mumbai Indians in the 29th match of IPL 2024. Mumbai Indians restricted Ruturaj Gaikwad-led 186-6 in 20 overs after setting a mammoth target of 207. Mumbai Indians tasted their fourth defeat of IPL 2024 against Chennai.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya took the responsibility of bowling in the final against the Chennai Super Kings. He started well after taking the wicket of Daryl Mitchell off the second ball. However, the next batsman, MS Dhoni, hit him for three consecutive sixes.

When Dhoni hit Pandya for a huge six off his first ball, Rohit Sharma reacted with a witty smile on his face with his hands folded. It seemed like Sharma already knew that Dhoni would come up with a big opportunity against Pandya. Check out the video below.

Pandya lost 26 runs in his final over and ended a costly spell. In his 3 overs, he leaked 43 runs with 2 wickets. However, his costly final greatly disadvantaged MI in the match.

Rohit Sharma hits a ton against CSK

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma smashed a stunning century in the CSK vs MI clash, the first at the Wankhede Stadium. The right-handed batsman kept the crease from the beginning and added an unbeaten 105 runs off 63 balls. He smashed 5 sixes and 11 fours during his innings, batting at a strike rate of 166+.

However, other MI batsmen could not provide such good support. Ishan Kishan (23) and Tilak Varma (31) added some runs. Suryakumar Yadav’s two-ball duck came as a big blow for Mumbai as he chased.

While Mumbai Indians started well with a run rate of over 10 in the first 10 overs, CSK pacer Matheesha Pathirana’s spell put them under pressure. The Sri Lankan pacer took 4 wickets for 28 runs during his 4 over spell.

Notably, MS Dhoni has shown a marvelous batting show in IPL 2024. In a previous match against Delhi Capitals, the 42-year-old added a quickfire 37 runs off 19 balls in the losing cause.

Chennai has won 4 out of 6 games in IPL 2024 and is ranked 3rd in the points table with 8 points. They will face Lucknow Super Giants in the next match on Friday, April 19.
