Watch: Shakib Al Hasan taunts Virat Kohli with icy celebration after rattling his stumps

Virat Kohli finally looked to be in good touch in the ongoing Test series between India and Bangladesh before Shakib Al Hasan removed him by breaking his stumps. Kohli looked in good form and was looking to play with intent.

However, his wait to score a Test fifty became longer as he was dismissed three runs short of his fifty. Shakib bowled an arm ball from outside the box and the ball continued immediately after being bowled from off stump.

Virat Kohli attempted a breakthrough through midwicket but missed the ball completely. As a result, the ball shattered his stumps. It was a big wicket as the party was slowly moving away from Bangladesh. Kohli was dismissed for 47 off 35 balls, which included 4 fours and 1 six.

Virat Kohli plays aggressive innings

Virat Kohli’s innings were full of adventure and he got lucky a few times too. Khaled Ahmed missed an easy run at the start of the innings when Kohli would have easily been dismissed after a mistake by Rishabh Pant.

However, the 35-year-old continued his aggressive route and smashed the bad balls out of the park. Kohli batted with intent and found boundaries at regular intervals. He also rotated his shot well and made the most of the gaps.

Kohli formed a fiery partnership with KL Rahul after India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant in quick succession. Both Kohli and Rahul put together a great partnership of 87 off 59 balls to help India take the lead.

Indian batsmen show intent to attack

Meanwhile, it was a tremendous effort from the Indian batsmen who tried their best in a bid to win the match. There were no half measures on the part of the batsmen as they continued the offensive batting display despite losing wickets.

Captain Rohit Sharma showed the way from his first ball as he smashed his first two balls for a six. Rohit was dismissed for 23 off 11 balls, but Yashasvi Jaiswal went on his merry way.

The left-hander kept his running pace high and found limits with great ease. He used all his T20 skills and smashed bowlers all over the park. Jaiswal scored a belligerent 72 off just 51 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes.

Although Rishabh Pant couldn’t contribute much this time, the other batsmen continued to keep the scoring rate up. Rahul and Kohli were magnificent with their quick partnership as they did not slow down despite India losing quick wickets.

But the Men in Blue started losing wickets regularly after Kohli’s dismissal. In a bid to get quick runs, the lower middle order and bottom order perished quickly.

KL Rahul also announced his return to form and scored 68 off just 43 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. India declared their innings at 285-9 and took a 52-run lead in the first innings.
