Rohit Bhai backed us and gave us the confidence to go out and play freely – Shubman Gill after the winning goal in Ranchi

After winning the Ranchi match for his team, Shubman Gill spoke about how captain Rohit Sharma supported the youngsters to play to their strengths. He also spoke about his association with Dhruv Jurel and explained:

“It means a lot for us to come here and have to play the series without much batting experience, having lost KL after the first Test… but Rohit Bhai backed us and gave us the confidence to go out and play freely.

“They put pressure on us, but our openers got off to a good start, losing a couple of wickets put the pressure on. But Jurel came out and took the pressure off. You have to see the situation and play accordingly: they were bowling well and protecting the boundaries, also they were not giving maidens and kept picking the singles.”
