Watch: ‘Superman’ Jos Buttler uses a one-handed blinder to send back Quinton de Kock in the 2024 T20 World Cup

Jos Buttler, on Friday (June 21), took one of the best catches of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to send back Quinton de Kock during the Super 8 match between South Africa and England in Saint Lucia.

In Quinton de Kock’s form, England needed something special to get rid of him and their captain rose to the occasion. The England keeper took an absolute blinder behind the stumps to help his team get rid of the Proteas opener.

In the fifth ball of the 12th over, Jofra Archer bowled a slower short ball outside off stump. De Kock tried to take a cut shot but couldn’t make good contact. He ended up pushing the ball behind the stumps, although it looked like he would be safe as the ball was away from Jos Buttler. At first it looked like the ball was going to rocket towards a four.

However, Jos Buttler had other ideas. The England star dove for his jump and caught the ball with his outstretched left hand.

Look at Jos Buttler’s capture:

Before being dismissed, de Kock scored a quick fifty to give South Africa a fast start after they were asked to bat first. The keeper-batsman scored 65 runs with the help of four fours and as many sixes. He and Reeza Hendricks shared an 86-run stand for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed for 19 off 25 balls. At the time of writing, South Africa were at 113 for 4 in 15th.

Both teams started their Super 8 campaign with a win and a win in the ongoing game will all but seal a semi-final spot for the winner. England began their Super 8 campaign with an excellent win over co-hosts West Indies. On the other hand, South Africa beat the United States to record their fifth victory in as many games in the tournament.
