Tushar Deshpande, on Monday (April 8), starred with the ball Chennai Super Kings in their ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

He picked up three wickets as CSK managed to restrict the free-scoring KKR to a modest total of 137/9 in the allotted 20 overs. After Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first, Tushar Deshpande justified his captain’s decision by hitting the first ball. The right-arm pacer dismissed the dangerous Phil Salt on the first ball of the game.

After impressing in the first over, he also impressed in the death overs. In the 17th over, he conceded just four runs and took the big wicket of Rinku Singh. In the 19th minute, he made an impact again by dismissing the dangerous Andre Russell. After starting with a wide and being hit for four on the first ball, the right-arm pacer dismissed the in-form West Indies all-rounder on the second ball.

It was a full delivery from Tushar Deshpande and Russell ended up hitting the ball straight to Daryl Mitchell at long-off. And with Tushar Deshpande impressing in the death overs, CSK bowling coach Dwayne Bravo stood and applauded in the dugout. The fast bowler also gave credit to the coach by bringing up the former West Indies all-rounder’s celebration.

Talking about the game, CSK were at 7 without loss in the second over at the time of writing this report. The Chennai-based team will be desperate to win the game to get back to winning ways after losing their last two games. They started their campaign with two home wins before losing away matches against Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On the other hand, KKR won their first three games in IPL 2024 and will look to put in a good performance with the ball to claim an unlikely victory and maintain their unbeaten start.
