Riyan Parag took his team to a commanding position as they have now claimed five wins in the competition. They have now moved to second place in the IPL points table and their players have helped them defend a low total.
Rajasthan Royals will now move to the second position in the points table as they have achieved 5 wins in the competition and have 10 points in their account. After two consecutive losses, they finally get back on track with a fifth comeback in the tournament.
Ravindra Jadeja helped Rajasthan Royals reach a target of 160 runs
Rajasthan Royals batsmen struggled at the start of the innings while the middle order struggled at the same time. The middle order collapsed again, while Ravindra Jadeja once again played a good hand with the bat.
Ravindra Jadeja’s 43* helped them surpass the 150-run mark and reach a target of 160 runs, with Shubham Dubey also contributing significantly with the bat. However, throughout the innings, they failed to connect properly with the bat and kept losing wickets.
Jofra Archer and Nadre Burger help RR dominate LSG top order on the power play
While LSG’s pacers also played an important role with the ball, Mayank Yadav remained the only weak link in that attack, giving away 56 runs in his quota of 4 overs. However, the RR pacers were even better as they helped them in the powerplay.
In the middle, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi also picked wickets. Breaking the partnership, Nandre Burger dismissed Mitchell Marsh, ending all hopes of pursuing that goal, which seemed distant after the middle stage.
Brijesh Sharma and Jofra Archer returned to pick wickets in the death overs, and that helped them build the wicket tally.
Everyone has been very supportive – Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag stated in his post-match interview that he is very satisfied with his latest victory. He said: “Very happy. First of all, I feel like we came up very short with the bat. The way the wicket was playing when Hetty and I were batting, I think we have to be better. I thought, honestly, even with the situation we had, we were close to getting 180, and that would have been a really good score because I knew it was going to go down later.”
He added: “At the start of the tournament, the message from the group was that we will be a team that assesses and adapts, and I think in the last two games, the wickets we got adapted very well and they batted according to the wicket and not just how they wanted to bat.”
“It has nothing to do with the middle order not scoring or whatever. If they get a flat wicket, they shoot. If they get another wicket like this, they can take some time and then move on from there.”
He also reasoned about his poor form and stated that he will not make any changes in his approach: “Everyone has been very supportive of me. I have also gone through a phase. Just before the IPL, I had gone through something, and even now I am going through something, and everyone understands it. Everyone respects it and I thank them for that.
“I feel like the way I’m batting and the innings are not far off, but like I’ve been saying, if I go in tomorrow and play another game, it will be what the team needs. It’s not about me not scoring runs and taking my time to get 40 or 30 runs. That’s not going to happen. I go out and assess the conditions. If they want me to get to 200 from the first ball, I do it.”
