"it’s disappointing": Rishabh Pant attacks batsmen after humiliating loss against RR in IPL 2026

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant was left with little option but to accept the fact that it is his batting that has let them down time and again, even though his players did a remarkable amount of work.

After the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants, the Royals, with their fifth win, have moved to the second position in the points table. After another loss, Lucknow Super Giants, who are now in the ninth position, are even further away from the playoff spot.

LSG pacers restricted Rajasthan batsmen to a very moderate total

The main strength of the Rajasthan Royals batting order lies in the top order, but they managed to largely dismiss them within the powerplay. Mohammed Shami’s second over produced two wickets, with an absolute jaffa to dismiss Dhruv Jurel.

While Yashasvi Jaiswal’s catch was a stellar effort by Rishabh Pant, LSG captain Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was dismissed after being caught by Mohsin Khan. The wickets kept falling at regular intervals until Ravindra Jadeja finally played a proper hand.

Jadeja scored some runs in partnership with Donovan Ferriera and then alongside impact batsman Shubham Dubey, who helped Jadeja gain momentum after his slow start. He finished the last over with 20 runs and managed to score 43 runs off just 29 balls.

Mitchell Marsh’s half-century in vain as LSG lose by huge margin

Playing for the Lucknow Super Giants, Mitchell Marsh opened the innings and scored a half-century for them. Ayush Badoni was dismissed in the second over, while Rishabh Pant was also dismissed in the same over.

After adding a few runs in partnership with Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, impact player Himmat Singh helped them in the second partnership, which brought them closer to the set target.

After multiple strikes from Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger, LSG were dismissed for just 119 runs. They finally managed to win the match by a margin of 40 runs.

As a batting group, we must raise our hands and try to finish: Rishabh Pant admits to making batting errors.

“I think it is difficult to explain. It is definitely our batting that is letting us down, but at the same time, we are disappointed as a team, as a group, but at the same time, we have to keep finding ways. We have to look for answers within, not outside, but that is how it is so far,” Rishabh Pant said after losing the match against RR.

Rishabh Pant continued: “Look, we definitely could have taken some time while we were batting and at the same time, you know, without making any excuses, including me in that, like we could have gone a little deeper because I think the bowlers did a fantastic job, especially after the last game.

“As a hitting group, we’ve got to put our hands up and try to finish that job for the pitchers as well. There’s still a lot of things we want to see on the positive side, you know?”

“We all know it’s disappointing for us as a team, but you know, we have to keep our heads up and look within ourselves for answers, and we surely know that we have enough firepower in our bowling and batting and we can still turn it around. That’s what I believe in,” Rishabh Pant added.
