Talking to Sportskeeda, Shimron Hetmyer said he had no idea if Rajasthan Royals was going to retain him before the IPL 2025 auction. According to him, the discussion about retention was not too much and it happened only a couple of days before the deadline. He had talked to his agent and ordered him to be openly open since the retention was always uncertain.
“There was not much conversation before, to be honest. It was like a day or two just before, when it was the retention part and I was basically talking to my agent in this regard and he said: ‘Who knows, we could retain, we could not. So just keep your options open and don’t think too much about it. And whatever happens, it happens, ”said Hetmyer.
Reflecting on their time with the Royals, Hetmyer acknowledged that it was a difficult decision for the team to determine which player abroad retain. He pointed out that in the last three years, Rajasthan had several outstanding players who worked exceptionally well.
“In the last three years when he played, we had some really good players who did an exceptional and exceptional job for us.
