SRH’s retention slab will be as follows: Klaasen at INR 23 crore, Cummins at INR 18 crore, Head and Abhishek at INR 14 crore and Nitish at INR 6 crore.
There are many rumors about IPL 2025 retentions and releases, and various reports appear from time to time. The new over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suggests they have finalized their retentions, with Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Their retention slab will be as follows: Klaasen at INR 23 crore, Cummins at INR 18 crore, Head and Abhishek at INR 14 crore and Nitish at INR 6 crore. Now the question is how can SRH give them an amount different from the retention slab fixed by the IPL.
As per the retention plan, the first limited retainer will get INR 18 crore, the second will get INR 14 crore, the third will get INR 11 crore, the fourth will get INR 18 crore and the fifth will get INR 14 crore. of rupees. The total amount will be equal to INR 75 crores.
Therefore, if a team decides to retain all five international players before the auction, they can choose to split INR 75 crore as per their wish. There is no need to follow the withholding slab but the amount should not be less than INR 75 crores.
Furthermore, a franchise can also pay more than Rs 75 million for its five retentions, and that higher amount will be deducted from the wallet. It all depends on how the agreement with the player goes before the deadline.

However, the split rule only applies if they retain all five international players. For example, if a team decides to retain only four players, at least INR 61 crore will be deducted from the purse and they will not be able to divide that INR 61 crore as per their wish.
They have to divide it like this: 18 million rupees, 14 million rupees, 11 million rupees and 18 million rupees. Similarly, for three withholdings, the amount will be at least: (18+14+11) crores = 43 crores.
Again, this sum may be greater than the retention limit if a team wishes to retain a player for an amount greater than the retention limit, but that higher amount will be deducted and not the amount equal to the retention limit. Teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians (MI), who have several quality players, will benefit from this law.
They are likely to retain up to five international players. Anyway, the change in dynamics of the IPL mega auction has certainly made it more interesting than ever.
