The WPL 2025 auction took place on Sunday (December 15) in Bengaluru. Some players were sold at the event as the franchises solidified their squad ahead of the next edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which is expected to take place in February next year.

As many as 19 spaces were to be filled in the WPL 2025 Auction. Of them, 14 were Indians and 5 were foreigners. Before the event, all the franchises collectively had a purse of INR 16.7 crore and hence the event ended quickly, unlike the IPL 2025 auction which ended after two days.

Ahead of the WPL 2024 auction, Gujarat Giants had the maximum purse of INR 4.4 crore with four slots to fill, while UP Warriorz had the second largest purse of INR 3.9 crore with a total of 3 spaces to fill.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru had INR 3.25 and will have four spots to fill. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals had INR 2.65 and 2.5 respectively, and both teams had 4 spots each to fill.

Simran Shakih was the most expensive player in the WPL 2025 auction

India played Simran Shakih was the most expensive player in the WPL 2025 auction as she was acquired by Gujarat Giants for a whopping amount of INR 1.90 crore. The second expensive player in this edition of the auction was sold to Gujarat Giants as they brought in Deandra Dottin for INR 1.70 crore.

G Kamalini also got a huge deal by getting INR 1.60 crore from Mumbai Indians. Indian player Prema Rawat was among the most expensive players in the WPL 2025 auction as he was picked by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 1.20 crore.

Delhi Capitals Women signed three players – Nandini Kashyap, N Charani and Sarah Bryce, while Gujarat Giants bought Deandra Dottin and Simran Shaikh.

Nadine de Klerk, G. Kamalini and Sanskriti Gupta will play for Mumbai Indians in WPL 2025, while Arushi Goel, Kranti Goud and Alana King will wear UP Warriors jerseys.
