Yashasvi Jaiswal also admires Sharma’s game management and his deep understanding of the pitch. He believes that young players can pick up important insights from the veteran Indian opener, particularly in adapting their batting techniques to different conditions, such as seam-friendly or curved tracks, and adjusting strategies in response to losing wickets.
He further noted, “You can learn from him things like adjusting your batting to suit the tracks or changing your batting when one or two wickets fall.” Notably, Rohit and Yashasvi have aggregated 980 runs as a pair at a staggering average of 61.25 in 16 Tests so far.
The Indian opener, who completed a year in international cricket, reflected on his growth and progress as a player. The left-hander feels that he has developed a greater understanding of his game. He is now better at assessing various match situations and adapting his approach to benefit the team.
Jaiswal concluded by saying, “Now I can see a lot of scenarios and change my game (accordingly) for the team and read the situations.”
