A Punjab Kings (PBKS) star and a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricketer combined to pull off an incredible heist in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to help Punjab edge out Mizoram in a Super Over thriller even though he seemed to concede the game at one point. .

Chasing 177 to win, Punjab were in a tough situation needing 24 off the last 4 balls. It was then that Harpreet Brar of PBKS took charge and hit three sixes and a boundary along with an extra ball to level the scores and take the game into the Super Over.

In the Super Over, KKR’s Ramandeep Singh bore testimony to his sheer power as he took the responsibility and continued the attack, hitting a six and a four off KC Cariappa as Punjab scored 15 runs.

During the defense, Punjab fast bowler Baltej Singh continued to nail the length of the yorker to deny Mizoram a happy ending as they were restricted to 7/1.

Harpreet Brar and Ramandeep Singh hope to continue their form in IPL 2025

Talking about both the players, PBKS bought back Harpreet Brar in the recent IPL 2025 auction, while KKR retained Ramandeep ahead of the retention deadline.

PBKS acquired Brar’s service for INR 1.5 crore while on the other hand, KKR decided to retain Ramandeep by paying him INR 4 crore.

Notably, Ramandeep also recently made his India debut during the T20I tour of South Africa after a promising performance in the previous season of IPL 2024, where he scored 125 runs at a blistering strike rate of 201.61.

The duo’s knock in the SMAT will definitely give them a morale boost ahead of the IPL 2025 edition and they will hope to maintain this form in the upcoming season.
