Punjab Kings are currently at the top of the order and have dominated the IPL 2026 season with the bat. They have shown some skill with the bat, having achieved scores of 265, breaking their own record from previous seasons.
However, since the last match they have lost their winning streak following the loss to Rajasthan Royals in their last home match of the season. To regain their winning streak, they faced the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
However, after being sent to bat first, the Punjab Kings batsmen struggled against the GT pacers’ attack. Mohammed Siraj’s precision and Kagiso Rabada’s blistering pace worried them, while Jason Holder was once again their key man.
PBKS fans go crazy after display of spectacular ball striking from Suryansh Shedge
Just when PBKS needed someone to fire after the early fall of wickets. Suryansh Sedge, the Mumbai lower-order batsman who was picked by Ricky Ponting in the mega auction but failed to perform last season, has stepped up for the Kings.
He played a spectacular hand, scoring a half-century after the Kings were five down at one point with just 47 runs on the board, and contributed to a promising sixth-wicket partnership alongside Marcus Stoinis.
Shedge took Manav Suthar, the Indian spinner, for 26 runs in the 14th over of the game. This added some momentum to the team as the batsman bowled it for three sixes and two fours, displaying an impressive range of ball-striking.

Kagiso Rabada counters with the wicket of Suryansh Shedge
Suryanash Shedge’s innings could be the only difference for the Punjab Kings when they go out to bowl. The young batsman has been doing this for several seasons for the Mumbai team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, but this marked his first big impact in the IPL.
Rabada is back to his best with the ball this season as he has been hitting hard and delivering with raw pace, which has now elevated him to third position in the purple cap rankings.
Having put in a splendid spell in the powerplay, Rabada returned for his second strike of the game. Although Shegde smashed him for a six off the first ball, he recovered, bowled some dots and dismissed him at the end of the over.
Punjab Kings restricted to 163 with Jason Holder’s double knock in death overs
Punjab Kings were restricted to a score of just 163, the lowest by the standards they have set in this edition of the competition. Having amassed over 200 runs every time they took the field, this seemed to be an insult to Punjab’s batting depth.
Jason Holder played the most promising role with the ball, even though Siraj hit the top three alongside Rabada, who dismissed Prabhsimran Singh at the end of the powerplay. Holder broke the backbone of PBKS’ middle order, with the wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett.
Stoinis’ dismissal at death changed the momentum of the game, when the player could have single-handedly taken the game away from the Titans with a stupendous show with the bat.
