Hyderabad Kingsmen started the PSL on a bad note but bounced back in their inaugural season and reached the final against former champions Peshawar Zalmi. Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne was seen in a heated argument with the fourth official after being disappointed by Kusal Perera’s controversial exit.
It’s the final matchday of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League and the campaign is underway between 2017 winners Peshawar Zalmi and debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Marnus Labuschagne, the captain of the Kingsmen team, unleashed his fury on the fourth umpire after the umpires made a controversial decision against Kusal Perera, who scored the sixth wicket of the Kingsmen innings.

Hyderabad Kingsmen got off to the worst possible start in the PSL 2026 final, with the Marnus Labuschagne-led team losing five wickets with just seven overs of play. Kusal Perera was in the box with Saim Ayub in the box.
On the fifth ball of the eighth over of the game against Nahid Rana, Kusal Perera, who was looking to steal a quick single, was blocked by the seamer and had to run around him to complete his run. Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell picked up and aimed at the stumps.

Now, Marnus Labuschagne was displeased at being given out as, according to him, the bowler had prevented the batsman from returning to the crease, which he reasoned with the fourth umpire. However, the referee reasoned that Rana had nothing to do with Perera and was just watching the ball.
Hyderabad Kingsmen’s incredible comeback in PSL 2026
Hyderabad Kingsmen, who were the latest addition to this Pakistan Super League season, had the worst start in the PSL. Marnus Labuschagne’s team started with four losses in a row. With ten games left for each team, they recorded five wins in the next six games of the season.
This was a miraculous comeback in PSL terms, as the Kingsmen became the first team in PSL history to qualify for the playoffs after losing the first four games of the season. They wrote the script for history by also defending 6 runs in the second qualifier at the end of the game.

The Kingsmen have performed particularly well with the ball throughout these games. However, in this game, they scored twice in the first over, dismissing in-form veteran Babar Azam for a golden duck and then also Mohammad Haris.
Kusal Mendis was also dismissed after a subtle start to the innings, and the Kingsmen got back into the game with the big four in the cabin. However, a major obstacle stood in the way of the Marnus Labuschagne-led team: Aaron Hardie, having picked up many wickets with the ball, has now racked up some runs with the bat.
They are chasing a timid total of 129, which was achieved thanks to Saim Ayub’s good knock in the final and the captain’s early start.
