KKR were already in trouble with their first two games on the bench at the start of the powerplay, and TV umpire Rohan Pandit’s controversial decision leaves the camp alongside Angkrish Raghuvanshi in trouble.
Another game and another poor start by the Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen as they could not sustain the momentum from the last win and once again collapsed in the powerplay. Seifert was the first to leave, followed by his skipper Ajinkya Rahane.
KKR batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi dismissed in most bizarre manner after TV umpire’s controversial decision
However, the main controversy erupted with the wicket of Angkrish Raghuvanshi, which looked unfair from all angles to the young batsman as third umpire Rohan Pandit ruled a decision against the KKR batsman.
On the last ball of the penultimate over of the powerplay, Raghuvanshi attempted to take a single off Prince Yadav, and the LSG fielder neatly collected the ball at short mid-wicket.
Raghuvanshi, at mid-wicket, looked to turn around and in the process had to do a U-turn, resulting in the ball hitting his boots while the fielder aimed at the stumps. However, LSG appealed for obstruction on the field and the TV umpire found Raghuvanshi guilty for the same, declaring him out.
No, another day, another mockery for KKR.😭🤣

Shane Watson in disbelief, Abhishek Nayar argues with referee after Raghuvanshi’s dismissal
After assessing the conditions, the television umpire concluded that Angkrish Raghuvanshi had been keeping an eye on the ball and his spin was intentional to block the path of the ball heading for the stumps.
When the three alphabets in red appeared on the big screen, not only Raghuvanshi on the field but also the coaches off the field were in utter disbelief. Shane Watson was shocked along with the team’s mentor, Dwayne Bravo.
Abhishek Nayar, the head coach, walked towards the referee off the field and had a tough conversation with him beside the bench, showing his disapproval of the TV referee’s awkward decision. Although the decision was as per the rules, the circumstances did not appear that Raghuvanshi intended to obstruct the field.
Mohsin Khan returns with career-best numbers against KKR
Apart from that run-out, all the other wickets that fell in KKR’s innings up to the 11th over were added to left-arm seamer Mohsin Khan’s tally. Khan used his variations in the most controlled manner.
After three wickets from Tim Seifert, Ajinkya Rahane and Rovman Powell in his first three overs, he returned to break the growing partnership between Rinku Singh and Cameron Green. Green, who hit a six, looked to face a slower ball outside off stump but could not predict the pace of the ball.
He overtook it and Rishabh Pant caught it with his gloves. Anukul Roy was greeted with a 143 km/h thunderbolt, and could do little more than hit the fielder at short mid-wicket, but that’s exactly what he did, handing Mohsin his fifth wicket of the game.
He finished his spell with figures of 5/23 in his 4 overs before being replaced by the impact player.
