Arshdeep Singh lost his cool when Shashank Singh took an easy catch in the 35th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 25. It was a simple opportunity, and one that PBKS would really like to forget.

Before dropping Rahul, Shashank Singh had dropped three catches against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in PBKS’ previous game in the ongoing IPL 2026. Shashank made the final mistake in the third over of Delhi Capitals’ batting at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Shashank tried to catch him using an inverted cup technique while moving backwards slightly. But at the last moment things went wrong. The ball slipped out of his hands and headed for a boundary, leaving Arshdeep embarrassed and angry that the Punjab pacer had already started celebrating.

As soon as the ball fell, Arshdeep stopped midway in shock and his reaction said it all. It was a great opportunity, and even PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta also looked disappointed in the stands.

Seeing this poor fielding, Punjab Kings head coach Ponting looked very disappointed as he lowered his head and couldn’t even see what was happening on the field. This fall could prove costly for the Punjab Kings as Rahul has already bagged his century in Delhi.

After the costly fall, Arshdeep Singh made a stunning comeback right after a delivery against the Delhi Capitals. In the same over, the fast bowler bowled a short quick delivery outside off stump to Pathum Nissanka, who attempted to play an attacking shot.

However, the DC opener failed to hit the ball cleanly, and it took the top edge of his bat, rising into the air behind him. PBKS wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh reacted instantly and completed an easy catch, handing the first wicket of the match to Arshdeep. Nissanka’s stay ended with 11 runs off just 7 balls, including two boundaries, and put pressure on the hosts.

Punjab Kings in great form but KL Rahul made the most of the lifeline

But the Capitals showed strong intent and made a big impact on the power play after losing the Sri Lankan star early. Nitish Rana and Rahul’s attacking batting helped DC score 68 runs, which is their highest powerplay score in the ongoing IPL 2026 so far.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings are in great form this season and sit comfortably at the top of the points table with 11 points from six matches, including one exit. His batting has been outstanding, with the team chasing big targets of over 200 runs with ease on several occasions.

PBKS have shown great strength in both batting and bowling this season. A big positive has been Arshdeep Singh’s return to form. After winning a battle against Nissanka, Arshdeep will take on power hitters Tristan Stubbs and David Miller and it will be an interesting battle to watch in Delhi.
