Hamburgers were bought for three small children: Imam-ul-Haq

While speaking during the ‘Honest Hour’ podcast show, Imam-ul-Haq revealed the real story behind the incident. He said he bought those hamburgers from the bowling coach. Azhar Mahmood’s Three daughters.

“During the 2019 World Cup, we lost the match to India and there were accusations against me, Babar, Sarfaraz and Shoaib Malik that we were drinking and eating burgers. I remember Momin Saqib created a video and said we were eating burgers,” said Imam-ul-Haq.

“Hasan Ali and I were in Manchester and we got really tired after training before the game against India. With us was our then bowling coach Azhar Mahmood and his three young daughters.

“No one knows to this day that the hamburgers were bought for those three little children and not for us. And they’re kids, so we can’t tell them to buy it on their own. So we brought them the hamburgers and they ate them,” added the left-handed batsman.

Pakistan lost the match against India in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019 by 89 runs. India had posted a mammoth total of 365-5 in 50 overs with a century from Rohit Sharma (140). Virat Kohli also added 77 runs. Imam-ul-Haq came out with 7 runs in the match.

Later, Pakistan could only reach 212-6 in 40 overs when rain affected the match. Pakistan lost by DLS method. For India, Vijay Shankar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya grabbed 2 wickets each. Pakistan finished fifth in the points table and failed to reach the semi-finals. On the other hand, India topped the points table but lost the semi-final against New Zealand.
