Stat Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi wants to put immense pressure on David Warner in the upcoming Test series against Australia. Shaheen Afridi expressed his desire to deny the veteran a fairytale ending, with Warner likely to retire from Tests after the series.

David Warner announced his plan to retire from Tests after the New Year’s Test against Pakistan in Sydney. Warner boasts an impressive record against Pakistan in red-ball cricket, amassing 1253 runs at an average of 83.53, with his highest score being 335 unbeaten runs.

We wish you good luck – Shaheen Afridi

Speaking to reporters, Shaheen Afridi stated that Pakistan leads the World Test Championship points table and emphasized the importance of maintaining their current momentum.

“We wish him good luck but we don’t expect a good finish for David Warner in his final Test series against us. This is an important series for Pakistan as we are currently leading the World Test Championship points table,” Afridi was quoted as saying by CricketPakistan.

Pakistan currently lead the WTC standings after dominating Sri Lanka in a two-Test series earlier this year. Under the leadership of new captain Shan Masood, the team aims to maintain this winning streak in future matches.

We don’t have much experience – Shaheen Afridi

The 23-year-old hoped the upcoming four-day practice match in Canberra would help Pakistan adapt to the conditions and fine-tune their strategy ahead of the opening Test at the Optus Stadium.

“We have played against Australia’s recently announced 14-member team and we are all up for this challenge. We don’t have much experience in Canberra but I am sure this four-day match against PM XI will help us prepare well for the series against the home team starting in Perth,” Afridi added.
