Abhimanyu Easwaran, along with the likes of Sarfaraz Khan and Priyank Panchal, were among the deserving names who were turned down by the Indian Test team named after the series against the West Indies.
The series begins on July 12 when Team India returns to the cricket field one month after its World Trials Championship final defeat against Australia.

While the BCCI has explained the reason behind Sarfaraz’s snubbing, Easwaran on his behalf said that there was no communication from the BCCI as to why he was not included in the XI.
“No, I haven’t had any communication so far,” Easwaran said sports star when asked if anyone from BCCI has contacted him to talk about things he needs to improve.

When asked about any aspect of the game that he could be better at, he said that there will always be room for improvement, even if he gets picked over the Indian team.
“That is there, regardless of whether I get elected or not. I want to improve as a cricketer. I want to raise the bar every day and improve. The national team is something that is not in my hands but improving every day is something I can work on to contribute more to my team, whether I play for the team, be it club, state, India A, East Zone or the Indian team. The thought process has always been that, I just want to focus on that. I just don’t want to give up. I just want to keep focusing on getting better.” he said.
Easwaran is set to lead the East Zone in the Duleep Trophy to be played in Bangalore from June 28 to July 16. He will once again try to impress the selectors by scoring runs in the tournament for a place in the national team.
