Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won a thriller against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 final. CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were brilliant throughout the tournament. Devon Conway he played the anchor role almost perfectly while also playing aggressively when Ruturaj was sacked on the cheap.
It was a team effort from CSK’s batting unit, as in the final it’s never easy to chase down 171 runs in 15 overs, regardless of the surface. CSK batsmen applied an all-out attacking approach as the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu demolished the opponent playing effective cameos.

CSK fans would hope they hadn’t seen the last of MS Dhoni, the right-handed batsman undone by Mohit Sharma’s shrewd variations. It would be interesting to see what the CSK management strategy would be in the auction, as the bowling lineup was brought to the cleanup at the playoff stage.

Conway was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and he praised Ruturaj Gaikwad and said that when there is a lot of pressure, he puts the opposition under pressure. Conway noted that Ruturaj Gaikwad knows what he is doing and stated that there is honesty and openness between them.
“We get along very well on and off the pitch. I admire the way he hits. He’s easy on the eyes when he gets going, but what also helps me is that when there’s a lot of pressure to put the opposition under pressure, it helps to have a guy who is calm, of course.” Devon Conway said.

“It makes it much easier for non-strikers to know that they are in this together. Ruturaj Gaikwad knows more or less when I’m trying too hard or if the choices I’m making are wrong. He’ll tell me right away, so there’s a lot of honesty and candor between us.” added.

Mike Hussey has been very helpful – Devon Conway
Conway admitted to the fact that there are many similarities between him, the legendary batsman and CSK’s hitting coach Mike Hussey. Conway racked up 672 runs in 16 games and was dictating the terms of the tournament.
“It has been very beneficial. There are a lot of similarities: both southpaws probably not the most powerful, but they maximize other ways to be just as effective.” Devon Conway kept.
