The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 traveled from the western part of India to the southern part as defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. This was RCB’s last home match in Bengaluru, and the crowd came out in large numbers to support their team. RCB beat GT by 5 wickets.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to field first. They made a forced change as Phil Salt was out due to injury and his England teammate Jacob Bethell came into the team. GT made two changes with Jason Holder and Manav Suthar replacing Glenn Phillips and Ashok Sharma.

IPL 2026: RCB vs GT Match Result:

After being invited to bat first, RCB bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood got off to a bright start as they did not let the opening pair of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan free their arms; However, in the later stages, they changed gears and scored 57 in the powerplay without losing a wicket, with Sai being the aggressor.

The left-hander reached his half-century in just 33 balls, and at that time Gill had faced just 10 balls. The former became the fastest to complete 2000 runs in IPL history. The first pair of GTs scored 128 runs for the first wicket and put the Titans in the driving seat. Shubman Gill was dismissed for 32 runs.

Sai then mentioned his first century of IPL 2026 as he scored a century off just 57 balls and was dismissed on the next ball he faced, Josh Hazlewood picking up the big wicket. Jos Buttler scored 25 runs off 16 balls, and some crucial contributions from Jason Holder of 23 off 10 balls towards the end helped the Titans post a total of 205/3 in their 20 overs.

Coming out in chase, Virat Kohli fell on the first ball faced by Washington Sundar, and then Jacob Bethell and Kohli pounced on the Titans pacers, as the latter was dismissed on a score of 14 off 10 balls, with Mohammed Siraj making the breakthrough. Devudtt Padikkal then took charge and, with Kohli, scored 58/1 in the powerplay.

Padikkal got his fifty in just 20 balls, and Kohli contributed 30 balls. Both hitters were in absolute chaos that night. They brought a hundred run partnership in the eleventh over. Rashid Khan broke the partnership when he dismissed the opener for 55 runs. Kohli, who looked set, was dismissed for 81 runs.

Then the wickets continued to fall as there were two quick wickets of Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar in the match. However, Krunal Pandya and Tim David sealed the match towards the end and finished the match with 7 balls to spare.
