The 18-year-old left-hander was picked by the Capitals during the IPL 2026 auction but is yet to feature. An update to the franchise is expected. It will be known once the report from the Capitals’ pre-game press conference arrives.
Delhi Capitals battling injuries
Delhi Capitals have been suffering from injuries as the team’s main pacer Mitchell Starc is still unavailable due to a shoulder injury. Axar Patel himself retired injured in the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) due to cramps. There has been no official update on the DC captain’s injury.
In the same game, Mukesh Kumar was also injured when he left the field after a painful injury while trying to dive in the same game against RCB. Kumar held his nose and felt pain. He was forced to leave the field immediately with the team physio for treatment. But both cricketers played the last match.
Delhi Capitals sign Rehan Ahmed
The Capitals had a good start in the IPL as they won the first two games, then lost two, then won again and suffered a loss in their last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). They were outclassed in the last match against SRH.
DC has signed a replacement for England opener Ben Duckett, who retired ahead of IPL 2026. The left-hander has been replaced by his England teammate Rehan Ahmed. The young bowling all-rounder has joined the team ahead of the next match.
Rehan has signed for INR 75 lakh. He will surely improve DC’s roster as he can contribute with both the bat and the ball. The wrist spinner also has experience in global leagues such as England’s T20 Blast, Australia’s Big Bash League and UAE’s ILT20. In 97 T20 appearances, he has 85 wickets at an economy rate of 8.13.
