The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed former South African pacemaker Morne Morkel as the bowling coach of the men’s national cricket team on Friday. Morne Morkel is set to join the coaching staff of the Pakistan cricket team during the two-game away series against Sri Lanka next month.
Morne Morkel will join the Pakistan national cricket team on a six-month contract. The former pacemaker is expected to travel to Sri Lanka with the Pakistani team for the series, which will be played in July. Previously, he missed out on making the New Zealand series squad due to IPL commitments.

The PCB made an official announcement on the appointment of Morne Morkel on Friday. The board launched the 16-member squad for the upcoming Test series, which is their first assignment in the 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

A right-arm fast bowler and lower-tier left-handed batsman, Morne Morkel played for the South Africa cricket team in 318 caps across three formats between 2006 and 2018. The right-arm pacer picked up 309 wickets in Tests, 188 ODI wickets and 47 T20I wickets.
Morne Morkel served as the bowling coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The Lucknow-based franchise reached the playoffs for the second year in a row before being knocked out of the tournament with a loss. in ‘Eliminator’.
