Australian captain Pat Cummins took a friendly jibe at Pakistan cricket team director and head coach Mohammad Hafeez’s statement of the team’s performance after the conclusion of the second Test at MCG.

According to Hafeez, Pakistan played better cricket than Australia in the second Test match of the Test series.

Mohammad Hafeez had said, “I will summarize the entire match: Our Pakistan team played better than the other team overall.”

However, Australian captain Pat Cummins gave a savage response to Mohammad Hafeez’s statement. Cummins said it was great that they played well and we got the win. Pat Cummins said: “Ahhhh. Cool. They played well. I’m glad I got the victory. It doesn’t really matter, does it? It is the team that wins in the end.”

It was yet another test series defeat for Pakistan in Australia after losing the second test match by 79 runs played in Melbourne. The Australian team was good enough for Pakistan on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test and concluded Pakistan’s second innings with a score of 237 runs while defending 317 runs.

Australian captain Pat Cummins took ten wickets in the entire match. Cummins picked up fifes in both innings and scripted Australia’s dominant victory. With the victory, Australia took an unassailable lead in the series with the third Test set to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney from January 3, 2024.

There were several reasons why Pakistan lost the second Test match against Australia. First was the sloppy fielding, on Day 1, the Pakistani fielders dropped quite a few catches on the field, the simplest of which was that of Australian opener David Warner, who was bowled by Abdullah Shafique in the slips.

The ball was at a catchable height and also at a great angle, but due to a miscalculation by Pakistani fielder Abdullah Shafique, he missed the catch.

Apart from the sloppy fielding, it was the bowling that once again let Pakistan down. Pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has not been able to lead from the front in the bowling department and is not playing at his full pace. Afridi’s swing and pace have slowed in recent days and batsmen have found it easier to play against him.

However, the main reason is the non-performance of former captain and batsman Babar Azam. Babar has been one of the best batsmen of the modern era, however, his performance has not been very attractive in recent times.

Babar Azam could only score 42 runs in the 2nd Test match when he got out for 1 run in the first innings, while he could only score 41 runs in the second innings. Babar has not been able to score runs against big teams, which has been the main reason for Pakistan’s failure in international cricket in recent times.
