Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will wear their iconic green jerseys in their next match against Delhi Capitals (DC). The ‘Go Green’ initiative began as a simple campaign but has become a key part of the franchise’s commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability efforts.
The clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals will take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, April 18. Captain Rajat Patidar will look to maintain his strong momentum in the upcoming match. They have already achieved four victories in five games and occupy second place in the standings.
RCB to wear green jerseys against Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru
The exclusive green t-shirts are made by sports brand PUMA using recycled stadium waste and technical textiles. This process supports the idea of a circular economy and promotes environmental responsibility in modern sports by helping to reduce overall waste.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru is the only carbon neutral T20 franchise in the world. Management has included sustainability goals in daily operations since launching this initiative in 2011, attracting green partners such as Sun Pharma and Nothing Smartphones.
RCB CEO Rajesh Menon expressed his pride in the team’s efforts to become carbon positive while also encouraging fans to adopt more sustainable lifestyle choices.
“Achieving carbon neutral status as a T20 franchise is the result of years of dedicated work. The green jerseys reflect this commitment and we hope this initiative inspires our fans and stakeholders to adopt more responsible and sustainable practices,” said Rajesh Menon.
RCB’s smart strategy to promote ecological days
A key part of this sustainability approach is studying fan behavior during match days. The franchise conducts stadium-wide surveys to understand travel patterns and identify how fans get around, including the use of rideshares throughout the city.
These surveys help estimate carbon emissions generated per viewer, providing information on the environmental impact of travel. Fans are also encouraged to use public transport, with match tickets connected to the Bengaluru metro to reduce the use of private vehicles.
The franchise has also reinforced waste management throughout the stadium. Strict monitoring and regular audits ensure proper segregation of waste, while renewable energy sources, such as solar-powered lighting, are used to reduce dependence on conventional energy during night matches.
RCB aim for top spot as Delhi Capitals look to regain form
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are off to a good start in IPL 2026 under Rajat Patidar. They have won four of their first five games with consistency in all departments. Their only loss was against Rajasthan Royals (RR), but they are still one of the best performing teams.
With eight points from five matches, RCB is currently second in the points table. A win in their next match could take them to first position.
Delhi Capitals, however, have had an inconsistent campaign so far. They started with two consecutive victories but followed with consecutive losses. The Delhi-based franchise is currently fifth in the points table and needs to bounce back quickly.
