Kuldeep Yadav-Rohit Sharma

Kuldeep Yadav has brilliantly revived his international career under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. He was almost forgotten after the 2019 World Cup for the next two years. However, he returned to the team in 2022.

He was also part of India’s ODI World Cup and made a substantial contribution as India reached the final unbeaten. It was unfortunate to see the team lose to Pat Cummins’ Australia. He took 15 wickets in the World Cup last year.

He also returned to the Test team in the home series against England. He took 19 wickets against England and played four of the five Test matches.

Rohit Sharma has an aura that attracts players

Speaking to freelance journalist Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, Kuldeep spoke about how Rohit Sharma has an aura in the team and a brotherly relationship with his players.

“Rohit bhai has that aura that every player attracts towards him, he is like our elder brother. He understands every player and loves and cares for every player in the team. He treats the team like a family.” Kuldeep said.

The China bowler played the first two games and missed the next three games for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. He was badly missed with the ball in the middle and the other players were taken by a lot.

He made an immediate impact upon his return as he took three wickets against LSG. He dismissed Marcus Stoinis, KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran to make a dent in LSG’s middle order. In the end, DC pursued LSG’s goal of 167 with 11 balls to spare. It was a morale-boosting win for the Capitals and they will be hoping Kuldeep Yadav continues his form in the remaining games.

Kuldeep was named Player of the Match for his figures of three for 20 in his four overs. In his post-match comments, Kuldeep emphasized the importance of the wickets he took.

“I liked the first and second wickets, I played a lot against Pooran and the execution was correct. I was clear with my plans, only length is important for me as a spinner. Very clear and confident in my abilities.”

“Whenever I feel the DRS decision is 50/50, I try to push for it, but when it’s more than 60/40 I tend to listen to Rishabh. As a bowler, you obviously want to take the DRS whenever possible. We ‘I have 2 reviews, so obviously one is for me (laughs).’ Kuldeep said.

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, in his post-match interaction, said he was relieved after his team got over the line against LSG. Since 2023, the Capitals have lost 10 of 13 matches in pursuit. This was only the third successful chase since last year. They became just the third team to beat LSG while chasing. Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans are the other two.

” Little relief, we really wanted to win. I was talking to the boys telling them that we have to think like champions, we have to keep fighting hard. (On bowling) We have phases in which we are not up to par, some individuals have to take responsibility for that, but we stay united as a group. Pant said.
