Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Thursday, May 2. at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The most dangerous batting team of IPL 2024, SRH, headed into the clash against Rajasthan Royals after a crushing defeat at the hands of five-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings.

In an away match at Chepauk, Chennai Super Kings brought down the struggling bowling unit of the Hyderabad-based franchise and posted a grand total of 212/3. All the SRH bowlers gave away runs with an economy of 8 or more and were smashed all over the park. Only three bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1), T Natarajan and Jaydev Unadkat (1), were among the wickets.

Chasing the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen barring Aiden Markram simply could not get going and were bowled out for 134 in 18.5 overs to face a huge loss of 78 runs.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are high on confidence as they registered a comprehensive 7-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in their last match in Lucknow on April 27.

It was a good all-round performance by the Men in Pink as the bowlers restricted LSG to 196/5 with Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Avesh Khan and Ravichandran Ashwin among the wickets and during the chase, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal. He displayed a batting masterclass to lead his team to victory.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bat first in the match and speaking at the toss, Pat Cummins said: “We are going to have a bat. In the games we have won, we bat first. That is probably our strength. It looks like a good wicket “

Sanju Samson revealed that they also wanted to bat first in the match looking at the conducive batting surface in Hyderabad. Sanju Samson said:

“We also wanted to bat seeing the conditions. It suits the team, we have done well this season. Momentum is the key in this tournament. Many things have worked well. To recognize what is working well, we must just want to continue with that” .
