Tilak Varma’s childhood coach Salam Bayash has revealed that the left-handed batsman had a crush on Suresh Raina during his youth. Bayash also recalled how he arranged Tilak Varma’s meeting with Suresh Raina as a surprise gift for him.
tilakvarma has been picked in the squad for the India vs West Indies T20I series. The left-handed batsman received a national call-up after the marvelous performance by him in the past two IPL seasons. Varma is also part of the Indian team for the 2023 Asian Games, which will take place between September and October this year.

During an interview with Times of India, Tilak Varma’s childhood coach Salam Bayash said that Salam Bayash was crazy about Suresh Raina During his childhood.
“I was crazy about Raina. He wanted me to show her class in one day school leagues. Yo he lured him by saying, if you score a century in this league, I’ll give you a great present. And he scored a century. After some days CSK came to play SRH in an IPL game.
I had already talked to some referees and I asked them to let Tilak be the ball boy in that game. I took Tilak to the stadium and took him to a dedicated area, and they gave him a jersey and the duty of being a ball boy for the match,” Bayash said.

Salam Bayash also recalled that he arranged Tilak Varma’s meeting with Suresh Raina after the match as a surprise gift.
“[Suresh] Raina was playing in that match. That was a gift from me to him. I had another gift for him. After the match, he also met Raina. Tilak was delighted to meet him. He touched his feet and got a lot of advice from him,” Salam Bayash further said.

Tilak Varma grabbed the spotlight with back-to-back successful seasons for Bombay Indians in the Indian Premier League. The 20-year-old batsman scored 397 runs in 14 games in IPL 2022 at an average of 36.09. In IPL 2023, the mid-order batsman smashed 343 runs in 11 games with an astonishing 164+ hitting rate.

Tilak Varma has made his entry into the national team with the India vs West Indies T20I series. From indian team will play a total of five T20I games during the away series, it is highly likely that Varma will also make his international debut.
