Match-fixing in Indian domestic cricket Col CK Nayudu Trophy

The COL CK Nayudu Trophy featured some strange and quite terrible refereeing. The match between Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been in the spotlight after what happened on day 1 of the match.

Karnataka won the toss and opted to bat first. They had good bat handling in the first innings of the COL CK Nayudu Trophy game against Uttar Pradesh. Openers in Macneil HN and Prakar Chaturvedi batted well at the top and ensured the team got off to a good start.

The duo batted well against the new ball and made no mistake. They added 68 runs to the opening partnership before the stand broke with a controversial dismissal. Prakar Chaturvedi was penalized even though the UP goalkeeper did not collect the ball properly.

Pacer Kunal Yadav bowled a short delivery down the leg side. Prakar Chaturvedi moved to the right of him and tried to shoot from behind. The ball passed close to his gloves and the goalkeeper swallowed it but then fell to the ground.

While goalkeeper Aaradhya Yadav was on the ground, the ball slipped out of his hands and hit the ground. He then immediately grabbed the ball while the entire team called for a catch as they believed Prakar Chaturvedi had hit the ball.

What caught the attention of many was that even before the catch was completed, the umpire declared the batsman out. The referee ignored the ball hitting the ground and raised his finger, in what was a shocking display of refereeing.

Here is the video:

Prakar Chaturvedi looked solid at the crease as he scored 33 runs in 69 balls and also hit four boundaries in his innings. The right-hander looked absolutely dejected after coming out and making the long walk back to the pavilion even after not being out according to the rules of the game.

Prakar Chaturvedi made sure to respond to all the drama in the second innings of the game. He played sensational innings at the top of the order and put pressure on the opposition. The opening batsman scored 86 runs off 143 balls in the second essay of the COL CK Nayudu Trophy game.

The batsman scored 9 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. His knock put Karnataka in the dominant position and they now look favorites to win the ongoing COL CK Nayudu Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
