Rahul Tewatia was very lucky to avoid a serious injury after falling awkwardly on the field while trying to catch the ball during the ongoing match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The incident took place in the 17th innings when he was fielding long. Mohit Sharma was bowling with Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson. On the last ball of the over, the right-hand batsman bowled the low delivery towards length and Rahul Tewatia started running towards his left to catch the ball.

However, he ended up tripping over his own foot and fell awkwardly. He was very lucky that the ball did not hit him in the face or any other part of his body. Due to his fall, he also lost the opportunity to catch and send back the Royals captain.

Talking about the game, RR recovered from a poor start to post a competitive total of 196 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs. The Royals lost both their openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, in the powerplay before Samson and Riyan Parag shared a 130-run stand for the third wicket.

Parag was the home team’s top scorer with 76 points while Samson remained unbeaten with 68. For GT, Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers. The star spinner conceded just 18 runs in his four overs and picked up the crucial wicket of Buttler.

“The first few games I had problems with line and length. I’ve been working on hitting the right area consistently. It was difficult after coming back from back surgery. I didn’t feel good in the first few games. I didn’t have the satisfaction. “It’s like it’s between 90 and 94 percent today. I hope to do it 100 percent. The more you bowl on the wicket, the more difficult it is for the batsman. I will look to have a positive mindset in the chase,” Rashid said after the innings.
