Sunrisers Hyderabad officially name Brydon Carse’s replacement in IPL 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad have picked Dilshan Madushanka as Brydon Carse’s replacement for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2026 season, despite giving him several chances to bounce back in the season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are finally leaving no stone unturned to maintain their winning streak after finally delivering a massive defeat to the unbeaten Rajasthan Royals. They have had problems with their bowling.

The Sunrisers have shown glimpses of compensation for their poor bowling attack, especially after a surprising performance from the two uncapped Indian pacers and a huge positive news in the form of the possible return of Pat Cummins.

Dilshan Madushanka named Brydon Carse’s replacement for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad picked Dilshan Madushanka as an injury replacement for Brydon Carse, the English pacer who was picked as a back-up option for Pat Cummins, the Australian captain, who was already supposed to miss the opening games of the IPL.

SRH chose Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement after Carse was ruled out of the current edition of the season due to injury. Dilshan Madushanka, a left-arm medium pacer, has represented Sri Lanka in 1 Test, 28 ODIs and 19 T20Is and has 70 wickets in international cricket to his name. He will join SRH for INR 75 Lakh, much less than Carse.

However, this is not the first time that Madushanka will play in the IPL as he previously played in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians, when he was picked for a whopping INR 4.60 crore after an impressive season in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. However, he had missed the season due to a serious injury.

What injury ruled Brydon Carse out of IPL 2026?

The England pacer was not part of the ICC T20 World Cup squad; However, Sunrisers Hyderabad had picked him as part of the team for the base price of INR 1 crore. He was previously ruled out for the previous season due to a toe injury.

This season he has also been ruled out of the competition due to a serious injury. He suffered a wrist or hand injury while batting in the nets before the team’s opening match against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Finally, after being given significant opportunities to rehabilitate, he was dropped on April 14 and replaced by the Lankan pacer. This is another big blow for SRH’s bowling line-up.

Pat Cummins likely to return for IPL 2026

Eshan Malinga has played an important role for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the absence of Pat Cummins, and until the former captain returns, Madushanka could be seen in the side as SRH have a spot reserved for the player, along with Sri Lanka’s other pacers and uncapped Indian bowlers.

However, SRH has another piece of good news waiting for them as Captain Cummins is likely to undergo a fitness test tomorrow in Australia and then fly back to India on the 17th of this month. Cummins, on the other hand, could be available for the rest of the season after his return.
