Mumbai Indians scored very little and hence needed to grab every opportunity that came their way. However, Will Jacks failed to take advantage of that, which was probably the easiest opportunity to win the game.
Mumbai Indians managed to put only 159 runs on the board, with the bowling team failing to defend scores of over 240 in the last game and will now have to defend their lowest score of this season to keep their chances of making the playoffs alive.
Mumbai Indians before this match are ninth in the points table with just two wins in eight matches in this edition of the IPL. Despite some high scoring performances, their players have failed to impress and hence MI have not put together a decent run in this IPL.
Will Jacks drops a babysitter while Sanju Samson gets an early lifeline
Sanju Samson, the centurion from the previous clash between these two teams, was once again a key wicketkeeper for Mumbai Indians and hence Jasprit Bumrah once again unleashed the new ball against the CSK opener.
Will Jacks, however, dropped a sitter against Sanju Samson off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah as the key pacer’s lack of wickets continues. The ball moved around the off; It was a decent bounce to tackle.
However, Samson stood by the leg side and fiddled with his bat as it flew towards first slip. Jack, in that position, released a simple catch. Bumrah walked away disappointed with a wide smile on his face.

Bumrah dismisses Sanju Samson from the last pass of the ball
After being left on his bowling, Sanju scored five runs off his next three balls and also hit a boundary on the penultimate ball of the over. However, Bumrah, the world-class pacer, once again outplayed his Indian teammate.
He bowled an outswinger outside off and some extra bounce off the surface from Chepauk helped the big pacer as Samson looked to cut hard to cut while trapped in the crease.
Ryan Rickelton jumped to his right and completed the catch, and the most relieved man on the field was Will Jacks, the man next to him in the stands. No big show for Samson as he walks off after a well done 11.
Ruturaj Gaikwad continues to show flashes of promise after shining against GT
Ruturaj Gaikwad started the season in very poor form as he failed to make promising starts and was batting with a strike rate of less than 105. However, just when his team was in deep trouble against the Gujarat Titans, the captain gave his best.
He took shape and got some invaluable runs in the last game and has seemingly gained momentum in his innings. Having amassed 36* at the time of writing in this 160-run chase, Gaikwad once again leads from the front as the team captain.
