Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins once again led his team in the IPL and started the process with a win in his first game as his team chased down a total of 228 runs with ease.
Sunrisers Hyderabad may not have had the best start to the season as they leaked runs when they failed to defend a massive total against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
They then lost three of their first four games and were having an unconvincing season. With his batsmen in top form, Ishan Kishan, as stand-in captain, guided them to three straight wins ahead of the clash against the Royals.
Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, had a promising start to the season with four wins early in the season. The Royals have been on a losing streak since returning to their original home ground at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s brilliant knock took RR to a flyer
Rajasthan Royals started the season on a dominant note, while on the other hand, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has never let form slip from his bat. He has had an impressive touch and has also reached the second highest position in the Orange Cap rankings.
With a 36-ball hundred, Sooryavanshi gave the Royals a flyer and amassed a total of over 200. However, despite putting up an impressive performance with the bat, with Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira in supporting roles, SRH restricted them to a score of less than 230.
Pat Cummins, the returning captain, bowled a splendid spell as he picked a wicket and gave away runs with an economy of just 7 in a match where players were thrashed from all parts of the field.
Spectacular knocks from Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave SRH fourth win of the season
In SRH’s innings where they chased 229 runs, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan acted as the main partners after the dismissal of Travis Head. Abhishek scored his third half-century of the season and led the team to a spectacular start.
Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, scored 74 runs and crossed 200. After his dismissal, Nitish Kumar Reddy quickly scored 36 runs alongside Heinrich Klaasen in a fifty-run partnership, taking them very close to the chase.
SRH sealed their fourth consecutive victory, and this was their first win of the season under the leadership of legendary Australian skipper Pat Cummins.
“Really happy.” Pat Cummins on winning his first game of the season
Pat Cummins helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to a victory over Rajasthan Royals which saw them overtake the Royals in the IPL points table at the third position. This chase became the fourth highest chase in IPL history.
Pat Cummins said: “Really happy. You are never sure how everything will turn out in the first game. Praful can bounce back and have an impact on the game. Ishan led them beautifully. Harshal and Jaydev also started for us. Ishan and Abhishek ate up the target quite early. A very calm and confident group, really a good win.
